On June 4, 2005 a Joint Workshop on Legal and Ethical Aspects organized and hosted by IRI as part of the AETIONOMY project took place at Leibniz University Hanover. IRI was represented by Prof. Forgó, Marc Stauch, Stefanie Hänold and Dominik Basten. The main aim of the workshop was to promote the coorporation between the legal and ethical partners in AETIONOMY and its sister project PRECISESADS. Partners and representatives from both projects as well as medical research professionals, particularly discussed the challenges that frequently arise with regard to safeguarding ethical values and protecting patient autonomy in medical research projects.
