Nikolaus Forgó, Christian Hawellek and Jonathan Stoklas attended the kick off meeting of the EU FP7 project MAPPING that took place in Groningen on the 18th and 19th of March. MAPPING (Managing Alternatives for Privacy, Property and INternet Governance) is an EU FP7 project with a duration of 48 month. The MAPPING consortium consists of 13 different partners from 11 different countries. IRI is taking part in EDF2014, the European Data Forum, which takes place in Athens, Greece, between 19th and 20th of March, 2014. The EDF is an annual meeting-point for data practitioners from industry, research, the public-sector and community initiatives, to discuss the opportunities and challenges of the emerging Data Economy in Europe. As a partner working in the European FP7 research project LinkedUp, IRI together with colleagues from the L3S, the Open Knowledge Foundation and the Open University UK displays results from the LinkedUp project and raises awareness for Linked Open Data (LOD) in education in general and data protection and IPR implications in that domain specifically.
Dr. Malek Barudi, M. Jur. (Oxford) vom IRI hat den Wirtschaftspreis Recht der Kanzlei Kapp, Ebeling & Partner erhalten. Mit dem Preis wurde seine Dissertation mit dem Titel „Autor und Werk – eine prägende Beziehung? Die urheberrechtliche Prägetheorie im Spiegel der Literaturwissenschaft“ honoriert.
The European Law Institute (ELI) published a document responding to the European Commission Public Consultation on Copyright Rules. The document was authored by several well known experts under the leadership of Prof. Axel Metzger and Prof. Reto Hilty and contains extensive responses to the questions which made up the Commission’s Public Consultation.
